Cerner partners the Oxford AHSN

The Oxford Academic Health Science Network is delighted to be joined by Cerner.  Cerner is the world’s largest independent health information and technology company.  We have partnered with the NHS for more than 25 years, with more than 66,000 active clinicians and staff now using our Millennium electronic medical record system in more than 20 NHS trusts.  We believe the future demands of healthcare will require a population health approach – that’s why we’re leading the local integration of information across health economies in England, integrating clinical research with electronic medical records, and investing in transformative solutions to manage populations of patients across the health and well being care continuum. We are working in the UK with AHSNs, lead providers and commissioners to build on our experience working with vertically-integrated Accountable Care Organisations in the USA.

Cerner has partnered with four acute trusts in the Oxford AHSN – Oxford University Hospitals (OUH), Royal Berkshire, Milton Keynes Hospital and Buckinghamshire Healthcare – to improve the safety and efficiency of the care delivered to patients. Through the AHSN partnership we would like to work with our acute trust partners and the local health economy to:

  • Complete the digital integration required to share information between all care settings
  • Realise the value of data for medical and organisational research, and rapidly embed this knowledge into clinical practice
  • Establish population-level clinical decision support to improve the quality of care for patients across the local health economy
  • Initiate the journey to population health management of patients across the care continuum
