A new programme offers NHS staff a helping hand to turn their smart ideas into real patient benefits.
Applications are open now for ‘Innovating in Healthcare Settings’ which is run by Buckinghamshire New University. The programme is free to participants thanks to funding from Health Education Thames Valley. It is open to all NHS staff working in the area covered by the Oxford Academic Health Science Network – Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Milton Keynes.
Up to 30 places are available. The programme runs for a year from February 2016. Students will attend one session per month as well as completing self-study. Students who successfully complete the programme will get 60 M-level academic credits to use towards future study for a Master’s degree.
Tracey Marriott, Director of Clinical Innovation Adoption at the Oxford AHSN, said: “Many colleagues working within the NHS have an idea or know of existing innovations that have the potential to transform services. However, there are often considerable challenges to implementation. This practical course aims to ease the route from idea to successful implementation. There has never been a more pressing time to innovate effectively as we face economic challenges and the need to maintain high standards of care.”
