Who are we?
Health Innovation Oxford and Thames Valley (HIOTV) is part of the NHS, commissioned by NHS England and the Office for Life Sciences (OLS) to connect the NHS, industry and academia and turn healthcare innovations into practical solutions that benefit patients, the health system and the wider economy.
Along with England’s other 14 regional Health Innovation Networks we form the Health Innovation Network (HIN).
What can Health Innovation Oxford and Thames Valley do for me?
We support innovators and companies across the UK to bring new products, technologies and services into the NHS.
We help you understand NHS needs, test and evaluate your innovation and find the best route to adoption.
We can also connect you with clinicians, patients and system partners to build real-world evidence and support national rollout.
Do you charge a fee?
Initial advice and signposting are free under our national OLS commission.
If you need in-depth or bespoke support, we offer fee-for-service projects tailored to your needs and budget.
Do you collaborate with pharma companies?
Yes. We work with pharma and life sciences companies of all sizes.
We help you understand NHS priorities, shape value propositions, explore new care pathways and develop partnership models that improve outcomes for patients and the health system.
We also support projects that generate real-world evidence, evaluate new treatments and inform national programmes.
Do you only work with innovators in the Thames Valley?
No. We work with innovators and companies across the UK and beyond.
We are closely connected to the NHS system within our region, but our support extends nationwide.
We also work with international innovators who want to bring products or services to the NHS in England.
However, we cannot work with organisations based in countries subject to UK sanctions.
Is your support limited to certain clinical areas?
No. While we have national and regional priorities in areas such as maternity and neonatal care, respiratory health, mental health and cardiovascular disease, we support innovations across all clinical areas.
If your innovation meets an unmet need, aligns with an NHS priority or improves care, we want to hear from you.
Do you provide funding?
No. We do not provide funding ourselves, but we can help you find and apply for the right opportunities.
Applying for funding can be complex and competitive, but we’re here to help.
Our team offers tailored advice and practical support to strengthen your application.
We regularly support innovators applying to all major UK grant schemes.
Can I work with you if I’ve already engaged with another Health Innovation Network?
Yes. You can work with more than one Health Innovation Network.
We often collaborate across regions to make sure your innovation gets the right support.
Do I need to complete another engagement form if I’ve already filled one in for another Health Innovation Network?
No. You only need to complete one engagement form across the network.
If you’ve already submitted one elsewhere, please just email us a copy or tell us which HIN you worked with.
How do I get started?
Complete our engagement form to tell us about your innovation and what support you’re looking for, then return it to info@healthinnovationoxford.org. Once we’ve reviewed it, we’ll be in touch to arrange an introductory call.
